The year 2011 saw us expand to 4 national events as more people created resources for orphans. The combined number of participants was 1,104 people and they raised $124,000 to provide needed resources for orphans throughout the world. There were a number of families that used the event to raise money for adoption expenses. That meant more children now have a permanent loving family. A memorable highlight was when a person stopped at a booth in Orphans Around the World and a signed up to sponsor an HIV positive child in Kenya. Schools are now becoming more involved in our events. One K-8 school took on a project to raise money for a chicken coop that would house 200 chickens. Those chickens will now be used for food for students and staff and for income. The 1st and 2nd grade class also made jump ropes for the girls at that school.
We look forward to having more communities working together to serve orphans in 2012.
